(Washington Metropolitan Golf Association)

Play more golf, improve your game without the competitive edge, play other great area courses at a fantastic price of $50 (18 holes),

Socialize and play golf with the ladies of South River on Thursdays

South River has been a part of this inter-club league for 7 years.

  • The WMGA is an 18 hole league that plays at area courses.  It's a great way to get out and play other local courses at a great rate with your SR friends. Only registered and paid members of WMGA are allowed to pay. NOTE: You can NOT be a member of the WGA (lower handicap league).
  • You must have an established handicap and a member in good standing of a participating WMGA club (South River) in order to join.
  • Playdates are scheduled on Thursday mornings.  The pace of play is great, we typically play in twosomes or threesomes with 5 minute tee time increments or a shotgun start.  You do NOT have to play every Thursday, only those courses and dates that work with your schedule.  The calendar is attached.
  • $25 Annual Dues and $50 for each course you play.  The $25 is used to award prizes at the end of the season and can be billed to your SR account. The $50 will be paid to each course via credit card or at some venues you may be able to bill back to South River.
  • This is not a competitive league unless you play for POINTS.
    • POINTS mean you are playing for prize money that is awarded at the end of the WMGA Season.  The season-ending round will be hosted at SR this year, 10/6.  So easy to collect your winnings!
    • If Not playing for POINTS - say you had a bad hole (gosh, I’m not turning this in), and you pick up your ball - no problem. Just record your max score, move on, and do not turn in your card to the Pro-shop at the end of the round.
    • If Playing for Points, you must putt out everything.  Scorecards must be signed by both the player and the player’s partner.  Make sure the total score is correct. Scorecards must be turned into the Pro-Shop at the end of each round.
  • Sign-up Genius emails will be sent out 10 days prior to each play date, to see who wants to participate.  We submit these to the "Host Club". I will then receive an email back with our tee times, pairings, lunch availability, and other important info that will be shared with those that have signed up to play that specific course.
